All seems to be well between Bengaluru stalwart Virat Kohli and Kolkata’s team mentor Gautam Gambhir as they shook hands during their clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gambhir and Kohli shared a warm hug as well during the strategic timeout.

The Delhi firebrands were involved in a tense verbal exchange after the low-scoring affair in Lucknow in May 2023 went the visitors’ way. They were fined 100 percent of their match fees for a Level 2 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, a 50 percent cut was levied on Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq.

Kohli didn’t hold himself back during the Royal Challengers Bangalore defence, celebrating rather aggressively after dismissals. He even put his finger over his mouth, shushing the crowd at the Ekana Stadium following the dismissal of Krunal Pandya, perhaps a gesture in retaliation to Gambhir’s similar act at the Chinnaswamy Stadium after Lucknow Super Giants’ narrow victory.

Naveen and Kohli were involved in a heated conversation on more than one occasion, while the RCB batter was had a minor altercation with Amit Mishra on the field. Kohli and Gambhir played together for the Delhi Ranji side and India, but the star cricketers have had moments of animosity with each other.

In IPL 2015, Gambhir celebrated his team’s victory aggressively and had an altercation with Virat Kohli with tempers flaring all around. Gambhir even kicked the chair in the dugout and was later fined for this action.
